More than any module, Step-wise encapsulates the philosophy of the project; giving students confidence with calculations by showing them, using animations and interaction, how long, complex questions can be reduced to simple diagrams from which numbers can be 'hung'. It encourages them to visualise a problem and once a picture is built up, the student is shown how to 'work backwards' and also gets to see the advantages of thinking in terms of 'sensible numbers'. |
