Project description

This project exploits the ease of use of Macintosh products as enabling technology to allow university members to:

  1. gain confidence through mastery of technology;
  2. reflect on their own teaching performance;
  3. provide feedback to students on their presentaion performance;
  4. simplify the production of demonstratin and tutorial videos for research, teaching and learning and publication; and
  5. develop creative new combinations of technology for their community.

Through exploiting a combination of basic software, text and voice comments can be inserted into QuickTime movies of presentations, performances, demonstrations and lectures. This inlcudes computer screen activity and voice. The reviewed movie, inlcuding inserted comments is converted to a finla QuickTime movie, allowing Reflective Practice and also providing feedback by academics to students on their performance. This is in line with the faculty's teaching and learning plan. Demonstration and lecture videos are easy to produce, archive, publish and deliver by web, CD-ROM and DVD. This project will allow SCA members to exploit their laptop's video capabilities and enhance their practice.

Educational Relevance

This project aims to create a community that can easily obtain material for Reflective Practice and feedbak to students. Production and publication of demonstration QuickTime videos will become a simple, normal, academic skill.
