Do be sensible

Do wear appropriate clothes

Do wear a hat and sunscreen

Do wear appropriate shoes

Do carry a first aid kit and learn how to use it

Do always turn boulders back the way you found them on the seashore

Do leave natural materials in place

Do keep to the tracks in National Parks and nature reserves

Do replace leaf litter

Do get permission before entering private property

Do acquire any permits necessary

 

Don't do fieldwork alone

Don't litter, take it home

Don't take anything back that you didn't bring

Don't break the habitat apart

Don't prise limpets off the rock platform

Don't remove natural materials

Don't permanently mark trees or rocks etc. with paint or carvings - use chalk

Don't be noisy - think of others

Don't turn your back on waves, always have someone watching them while you work on a rock platform

Don't put your fingers in places you can't see
